Harvest Moon now on Switch Online Membership!

Wooeeh!

The Expansion version wasn’t as enticing when I was choosing between the Nintendo Switch Online and the Switch Online Expansion.

And I only wanted the Switch Online Membership to take part in Pokemon Raids while I was playing Pokemon Scarlet (and Tetris 99 😉).

All these while, Nintendo has been drip releasing more games to both versions of their Switch Online Membership. And to be honest, most of the games I was interested in were in the Switch Online Expansion pack…which was a bummer.

But then they dropped the June update:

The original HARVEST MOON is now available in my SNES library! 😲

What’s the deal with Harvest Moon?

In case you didn’t know, Harvest Moon was the very first farm management sim game ever released. It was first released in Japan as 牧場物語 (Bokujo Monogatari) or Farm Story.

Since then, it has inspired a new generation of cozy sim management games.

Harvest Moon also happens to be the inspiration behind the popular farm management sim; Stardew Valley. Stardew Valley then went on to inspire a whole ‘genre’ of “Stardew Valley-like” games. One of them is Roots of Pacha, a game that I’m currently hooked on.

The release of the Harvest Moon on SNES for Nintendo Switch Online members is well-timed as anticipation for the upcoming Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life that will be released on 27 June 2023 build up.

Story of Seasons is being developed by XSEED for international markets. The change of name was because they no longer had the rights to use the Harvest Moon name.

Regardless, now I have another game on my backlog that I can’t wait to crack into😅

I had downloaded the game on my Switch Lite and the first hour was captivating! I’ll probably put more hours into it during my overseas trip next week. For now, back to Roots of Pacha!

Disclaimer: I’m a subscriber to the Nintendo Switch Online Membership. And I think it’s a good idea to subscribe because of all the added value that Nintendo is currently pushing into their memberships.
