5 games I bought during Steam Summer Sale 2023!

Steam’s Summer Sale 2023 is live!

It’ll be running from 29 June 2023 to 13 July 2023, so you might want to grab some discounted games from your watchlist.

Steam is known to offer seasonal sales, but this time I was in the mood to finally start playing Stardew Valley. So, I went in and did some shopping:

1) Stardew Valley (35% discount)

An iconic cozy, farm management RPG inspired by Harvest Moon. Stardew Valley took the world by storm when it was released in 2016.

It got so popular, it even inspired a whole generation of indie games and cozy simulation games.

One example is:

2) Roots of Pacha (20% discount)

Roots of Pacha was just released this year.

Described as “Stardew Valley, but in stone-age”, you get to manage your farm, catch animals, raise pets and more, while developing ideas that shape humanity.

It’s a cozy game in my 2023 watchlist, and the summer sale sealed the deal for me.

3) Firewatch (75% discount)

Firewatch is a mystery-adventure game where you explore the Wyoming wilderness, relying on your supervisor who is only contactable by a handheld radio.

While the pretax sounds simple, it is strongly story driven, pulling us in as we discover more about Henry (the character you play as) and why he decided to put down everything he had in life and take up the lonely gig of watching over the park.

It is also a relatively short RPG, running at an average of 4 hours, according to HowLongToBeat.

4) The Stillness of the Wind (80% discount)

Another story-driven game that has been on my watch list for a while. You play as an old lady in “The Stillness of the Wind” who watches her small village empty out slowly as family, friends and neighbors move out to the city.

I’ve been curious about this game since I saw it on TikTok.

If you’re also looking for an emotional ride that explores life and loss, The Stillness of the Wind may be a great addition to your game library too.

5) Lonely Mountains: Downhill (60% discount)

After all that heaviness, I went for something light to balance out my cart.

Race down mountains and find your way through forests, trails and more, all on a bicycle.

If you’re looking for a quick gaming session that doesn’t require much emotional commitment, this is it.

Finding your way down mountains is definitely more fun than death scrolling anytime.

Lonely Mountains is developed by Thunderful, and their catalog of games are also on sale in the current Steam Summer Sale.

  • Islanders, their minimalist strategy game with procedurally generated cities looks promising. (it is also on sale on the Nintendo e-shop)
  • Planet of Lana and the SteamWorld Dig series may also be games worth considering.
